The Bamboo Roofing Project
on the hillsides

The factory for the industry we are now proposing will be built near Bamdi.  The hillsides above Bamdi on both sides of the valley are steep and prone to landslides.  The Kaski ridge from Sarankot to Naudanda is mostly bare of trees and terraced to grow rice and other crops.  With encouragement from our nursery- and someday soon our factory- bamboo is being planted in much of the streambeds and other waste spaces providing significant soil cleaning and holding.  With the advent of the factory the demand for bamboo should cause more and more of the less productive land (that which is most subject to erosion) will be planted as well.

 The industries we intend to compete against are the metal sheet roofing and plywood that are primarily imports from India.
